Giant Steps Children’s Centre in partnership with families strive to create and maintain a collaborative environment committed to the well being of children. Our inclusive, developmentally appropriate curriculum creates a bond among children, their families, the centre and the community.

We are proud to be an integral part of our community, employing 50 staff and providing a variety of child care programs licensed for 303 children in four locations, serving close to 400 families.

Diverse Learning Environments

The goal of the programs at Giant Steps Children’s Centre is to provide a positive early childhood or after school experience to every child, including those with special needs.

Children will have opportunities to learn, play and grow in a supportive early childhood setting. Our programs promote active social integration between children with and without disabilities across all parts of our day. Families are involved in identifying skills and goals that are of priority for the children and are encouraged to take an active role in the classroom. Routine based plans are used to provide learning opportunities and effective assessment of children’s short and long term goals. Inclusion is about children and families having a sense of community, about building relationships and about children developing to their fullest potential.

Who We Are
Giant Steps Children’s Centre, owned and operated by Lisa Rondeau and Donna Buckland, provides a level of care and compassion for both the children they teach and the staff they employ that should be the standard for which daycare programs are judged. Both of these community leaders pride themselves on employing staff that both enjoy going to work each and every day and feel part of a larger team responsible for the care and education of our children.

We believe:

• All children can learn when they have the opportunity to touch, look, listen, try out their ideas, pursue their questions and theories, and follow their curiosity.
• Children learn best in a warm, supportive and respectful environment that provides unique and varied opportunities and experiences.
• Families and community are vital to children’s learning.
